First Period Apprentice Award
The First Period Apprentice Award is a $750 financial award for first year apprentices registered in the Alberta apprenticeship program who are entering first period technical training at a publicly-funded technical training provider in Alberta on or after August 1st, 2015.
To be eligible, an apprentice must be:
- a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada,
- actively registered as an Alberta apprentice,
- a first-time recipient of the First Period Apprentice Award, and
- registered to attend first period apprenticeship technical training at an approved technical training provider on or after August 1st, 2015.
How will apprentices collect the $750 award?
Apprentices who would like to receive this Award must provide their Social Insurance Number (SIN) to AIT. AIT will submit it along with their mailing address to Student Aid Alberta, the issuer of the cheques. AIT will not collect and store SINs. The First Period Apprentice Award is managed by Student Aid.
When will apprentices receive their award cheque?
Apprentices who provide their SIN as soon as they have registered for technical training could receive $750 during the first two weeks of technical training.
