Automotive Service Technician Resources

Resources available to prepare for the exam(s)

Due to increasing concerns about the security of exams, Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training now supplies calculators for all exam candidates.  Personal calculators are not permitted. No exceptions will be made. The model of calculator will depend on the trade.  For most trades, a Casio FX-260 calculator will be provided.   (For instructions on the use of the Casio FX-260, see Calculators for use in Apprenticeship and Industry Training Exams.)  For exams with higher-level mathematical content such as complex numbers and polar functions (Communication Technician, Electrician, Instrumentation and Control Technician, Machinist, Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Powerline Technician and Power Systems Electrician trades), candidates may use either the Casio FX-260 or a Sharp EL-520W.  Both calculators will be available at the exam location.
