Trades without Apprenticeship Education Programs

Under the Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act, all Designated Occupations under the previous legislation became designated trades. A list of these trades is below. 

These trades do not have associated apprenticeship programs; visit the trade profile to learn how you can become certified.

Alberta is only accepting new applications for the following five programs:

  • Cathodic Protection Technician – Level One 
  • Cathodic Protection – Level Two
  • Construction Craft Worker
  • Field Heat Treatment Technician Gas Utility Operator
  • Industrial Construction Crew Supervisor 

Until further notice, Alberta is not accepting new applications for any other designated trade programs listed on this page, as these programs are being reviewed as part of the Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act.
