History:
The Alberta Ironworkers Apprenticeship and Training Plan and the Ironworkers Local 720 are pleased to be involved in the Alberta Scholarship Apprenticeship and Industry Training Scholarships Program.

The Alberta Ironworkers Apprenticeship and Training Trust Fund was created through a collective agreement made on July 5, 1969 between the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Ironworkers Local 720 (Edmonton) and by collective agreement made on April 13, 1970 between Local 725 (Calgary) and the Employers. The Fund was established with respect to providing training programs for those members engaged as apprentices and those members who may be eligible for refresher and retraining programs.

Although the initiatives have been amended throughout the years, the fundamental purpose of the Fund has not changed; the key elements of training have not changed; the philosophy of passing skills has not changed.

To excel in being the safest, most productive and highest quality workforce available, it all starts with initial training and continues with refresher and upgrading training throughout a craftsperson's career.
