Alberta Apprenticeship Day 2025
September 22, 2025
Every fourth Monday in September is recognized as Apprenticeship Day in Alberta. This year is the fourth year Alberta has celebrated this day to recognize both the value of apprenticeship education and the people who work in the skilled trades.
Albertans are recognizing the advantages of apprenticeship education, with registration numbers continuing to increase. Apprenticeship is valuable as it combines learning theory in a classroom and lab with learning from experts on-the-job. Apprentices benefit from both earning while they’re learning and building relationships and people skills necessary to grow in their chosen field. As technology rapidly changes, apprentices and their mentors are able to work together to approach new challenges in innovative and flexible ways.
Alberta is continuing to be a leader in expanding the apprenticeship education model to industries beyond the skilled trades. We encourage you to learn about the Industry Pathways program if your industry can benefit from an apprenticeship style of training.
We want to extend our thanks to everyone who makes apprenticeship work. This includes on-the-job mentors, classroom instructors, industry experts, and apprentices themselves! You are shaping Alberta’s present and future.
To learn more about getting started, we encourage you to check out the About Apprenticeship and Become an Apprentice pages on Tradesecrets and the Learn About Apprenticeship page on alis.
