Alberta Apprenticeship Day
September 28, 2026
Every fourth Monday in September is recognized as Apprenticeship Day in Alberta. This year is the fifth year the province has celebrated this day to recognize both the value of apprenticeship education and the people who work in the skilled trades.
Apprenticeship education is resonating with Albertans, with registration numbers continuing to be high. Apprentices can build their careers while still in post-secondary education. Not only do they earn while they learn, but they are also developing a professional network and mastering technical and soft skills for the future.
Alberta remains committed to expanding the apprenticeship education model to industries beyond the skilled trades. We encourage you to learn about the Industry Pathways program if your industry can benefit from an apprenticeship style of training.
We want to extend our thanks to everyone who makes apprenticeship work. This includes on-the-job mentors, classroom instructors, industry experts, and apprentices themselves! You are shaping Alberta’s present and future.
To learn more about getting started, we encourage you to check out the About Apprenticeship and Become an Apprentice pages on Tradesecrets and the Learn About Apprenticeship page on alis.
