Alberta Steel Fabricator certificates issued prior to July 1982 are not the same as an Alberta Steel Fabricator certificate issued between 1982 and 1986 or an Alberta Structural Steel and Plate Fitter certificate issued after 1986. Prior to July 1982, Steel Fabricator certificates are either Boilermaker or Ironworker certificates. As of 2016 due to Harmonization, the Alberta's certificates are issued with the Metal Fabricator(Fitter) name.

Verifying a Trade Certificate
Employers who have questions about a trade certificate should verify them through the issuing jurisdiction.
Recommended Steps:
- Get the certificate holder’s written permission to request verification.
- Confirm their legal name (spelled correctly) and date of birth.
- Photocopy both sides of the certificate.
- Fax the information to the issuing province or territory and request official verification.
If the issuing province or territory informs you the certificate does not appear to be authentic, contact us.
