Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education General Regulation
- This regulation:
- outlines matters the Minister must consider before creating new apprenticeship programs or industry training programs
- outlines matters the Minister must consider before designating new trades or prescribing restricted activities and who may perform them,
- prescribes the remuneration for member of the Alberta Board of Skilled Trades, and
- provides additional details regarding:
- offences and penalties under the act
- transitional matters between the former Apprenticeship and Industry Training Act and the Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act.

Apprenticeship Education and Industry Training Programs Regulation
- This regulation:
- outlines AIT’s role (as the Registrar) in delivering apprenticeship education programs and issuing educational credentials,
- enables AIT to set eligibility criteria an individual must meet to register as an apprentice
- outlines the requirements that an apprentice and sponsor must meet to enter into an apprenticeship education agreement
- outlines the obligations of sponsors and mentors of registered apprentices,
- outlines the obligations of apprentices and trainees,
- prescribes the wage rates and apprentice-to-mentor ratios employers must follow when employing apprentices, and
- outlines how to request a reconsideration or review of a decision made by AIT

Designated Trades and Restricted Activities Regulation
- This regulation:
- identifies all designated trades (Schedule 1)
- identifies any restricted activities within designated trades and who may perform them (Schedule 2),
- provides governance details for the new Alberta Board of Skilled Trades,
- allows AIT (as the Administrator) to issue journeyperson certificates to individuals who meet the board's standards for certification,
- enables AIT to issue Red Seals to individuals who meet the board’s standards for the Red Seal Endorsement,
- outlines how the Administrator may authorize an individual or class or individuals to perform restricted activities,
- outlines how and when the Administrator may suspend or revoke an individual’s trade certificates and, if applicable, endorsement, and
- outlines how to request a reconsideration or review of a decision made by the Registrar.
