Ease the Burden Substance Use and Addiction

Ease the Burden

Addiction and overdoses can widely impact people in trades. Working in trades can come with pain, injury, and stress. This can lead to using substances like drugs or alcohol to cope, which can lead to addiction and overdoses.

Some avoid asking for help because they fear they will be judged, get in trouble or be seen as weak. In fact, we know it takes strength to reach out for help.

Health Canada's Ease the Burden initiative aims to reduce stigma and the impact of addiction and overdoses for people in trades.

For Employers

Available on the campaign website is a Communications Toolkit for Employers. This toolkit includes:

  • Template emails
  • Posters
  • Presentations
  • Social media content
  • Website copy

Employers and organizations can use these materials to start conversations about substance use and addiction, helping create workplaces where men feel safe and supported to seek help.
