History:
The Owen Baker Scholarship was established by Keyera Corp., a Canadian midstream services company where Owen completed his career in 2013. Mr. Baker is passionate about lifelong learning and ensuring employees and contractors working at oil and gas facilities are properly educated and trained to do their jobs safely. He spearheaded the development of the innovative Competency Management and Development System, which supports the assessment and enhancement of the skills required for industry tradespeople. The Owen Baker scholarship is intended to assist and encourage Alberta students to pursue full-time studies in a post-secondary trades program related to the oil and gas industry.
