Alternative Training Providers

Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) recognizes certain programs from alternative training providers as equivalent to classroom instruction for apprenticeship programs.

These programs can help you start or advance in your program.

About Recognized Programs

• Pre-employment programs
  • Designed for those who haven’t registered as an apprentice yet.
  • Prepares you for both apprenticeship and employment.
  • May allow you to write a Prior Learning Assessment exam for advanced standing in your apprenticeship program.
• Apprenticeship training programs
  • Available to registered apprentices as an alternative to classroom instruction at a public college or polytechnic institution.
  • May qualify you to challenge the exam for your period of apprenticeship (often arranged by the training provider).
