Scholarship Information: Masonry Contractors Association Scholarship (2)

History:
The Masonry Contractors Association of Alberta was first incorporated in January 1965. It provided a way for contractors in the masonry industry to socialize, keep up with technological innovations, and most importantly, to have some input into the direction of the masonry industry.

Currently, there are two regions of the Masonry Contractors Association in Alberta. The Northern Region operates out of Edmonton and the Southern Region operates out of Calgary. Each of the Associations is comprised of members from the contractor as well as the supplier and manufacturing areas of the masonry field. In addition to having representation on a local and provincial level, both are chapter members of the Canadian Masonry Contractor's Association.

The members of the Masonry Contractors Association of Alberta work together to further the industry. The Masonry Contractors Association wholeheartedly participates in the Bricklayer Apprenticeship Program in order to ensure the success of this program by contributing materials, labour and input to the program. Additionally, the Association participates in annual provincial, national and international competitions held by Skills Canada. In supporting these endeavors, the Association is able to increase awareness about careers in skilled trades and technology.

The Masonry Contractors Association of Alberta continues to support and increase awareness of the skilled trades fields by supporting the Apprenticeship and Industry Training scholarships through both the Edmonton and Calgary chapters.
