Apprenticeship and the IT Sector Request for Interest

AIT extended an invitation to Alberta’s Information Technology (IT) representatives to attend an online information session regarding a Request for Interest (RFI) that the Government of Alberta is launching. This information session explained the flexible ways the apprenticeship learning model – a combination of classroom and on-the-job instruction – may assist workforce development in Alberta’s IT sector.

Apprenticeship education offers:

  • The ability for students to gain real-world experience and earn while they learn.
  • Flexible program development, delivery, and assessment options.
  • An education credential that can lead to further educational pathways.
  • The option for an industry recognized certification (journeyperson certification) for experienced workers.

More information on apprenticeship education and trade designation in Alberta can be found on our Industry Pathways page.
