Registration in an Apprenticeship Education Program Without a Sponsor
An individual without a sponsor may:
- register in an apprenticeship education program, and
- enroll in and attend one period of classroom instruction.
Any additional attempts at that same period or the next period of classroom instruction may be permitted at the discretion of the Registrar.
The apprentice may remain registered without a sponsor as long as they are able to progress in their program, as defined in the apprenticeship education standards for their program (found in the trade profile).
- Apprentices who do not meet the requirement to progress will have their registration cancelled.
To accumulate on-the-job instructions hours, an apprentice must:
- have an apprenticeship education agreement with a sponsor, or
- be working in another jurisdiction under the Provincial-Territorial Apprentice Mobility Protocol.
