SOUTHLAND Transportation Ltd.

In 1971 SOUTHLAND Transportation Ltd. launched a special education van service for the Calgary Catholic School Board. By 1979 the company had grown to over 50 buses, serving the Calgary Public, Calgary Catholic, and Calgary Hebrew school boards. In 1987 the fleet had increased to approximately 100 units.
SOUTHLAND started to diversify transportation operations when they set up a weekly Calgary commuter bus service from Cochrane. The company currently operates seven scheduled commuter buses out of both Cochrane and Okotoks.
In 1997, the company, along with approximately 450 buses, was sold to the present owners Pacific Western Transportation. SOUTHLAND has continued to expand its operation and the communities it serves.
Presently, SOUTHLAND Transportation Ltd. operates one of the largest fleets of school buses in Alberta, as well as fleets in Saskatchewan and Ontario, with approximately 1850 employees and 1700 units.
SOUTHLAND supports the company fleet by providing superior maintenance facilities which meet the needs of highly trained company technicians and support personnel. Continued education of our technicians is critical to keep them educated on changing technologies and new units.
All positions at SOUTHLAND are classified as "safety sensitive". This ensures those hired are properly screened and evaluated for providing the best maintenance support and transportation.
